FAQ

What ebook formats can I open in Readmill for iPad?

Readmill for iPad supports ebooks in DRM free ePub format. ePub is quickly becoming the standard ebook format for many bookstores. Lots of these bookstores are also transitioning to use watermarked ePub instead of DRM. Watermarked ePubs are not locked by DRM and can be read in the Readmill app. DRM is a form of protection to limit the use of digital content. It is mainly used by the larger online book stores.

DRM - What? Who? Why?

DRM is a protection technique to limit the use of digital files, meaning DRM-protected ebooks can only be read on certain readers. It is mainly used by the larger online book stores. There are a growing number of publishers, authors and book stores who, like us, would like to move away from DRM-protected material, to more open and shareable formats.

Where can I find ePub books without DRM for Readmill for iPad?

How do I make highlights in the Readmill for iPad?

Once you’ve connected the book, just tap and hold, mark a piece of text and select “highlight” from the pop up menu. You can add a comment if you’d like, press send, and everything will be saved to your Readmill account.

Why didn’t Readmill for iPad find my highlight in the book?

It’s possible the highlight you were trying to find was made on a Kindle and imported to Readmill using our bookmarklet. This means the app might have trouble finding it within the book.

I have a Kindle, can I use it with Readmill?

Yes! You can use the bookmarklet to sync your highlights from kindle.amazon.com. Check it out here.

How can I add paper books to Readmill?

There are currently two apps you can use. ReadMore for iPhone, and ReadTracker for Android. Both apps track your reading of paper books and sync to Readmill. If you own a smartphone, and prefer to read books the old fashioned way, these apps are for you!

Facebook sharing

Readmill supports sharing to Facebook Timeline. If you have connected your Facebook account to your Readmill account you can enable sharing in your connection settings. If you want to know more about Facebook Timeline, read up on it here.

Sharing to Timeline

Sharing to Timeline means that your Readmill activity will be shared to Facebook as it happens, without you needing to press any buttons. When adding the Readmill app to your Facebook Timeline, you can choose who sees the activity on Facebook and you can always change your settings later from your Application Settings page. Enabling sharing to Timeline also means that Facebook will disappear as a sharing option in Readmill for iPad, but your activity will still be shared.

What activity will be shared?

These activities will be shared to Facebook as they happen:

When you mark a book as interesting, start reading, finish reading or recommend a book.

When you highlight a passage or like a highlight.

When you follow someone on Readmill.

Turning off sharing

Just uncheck the box Share to Timeline in your connection settings and you get back Facebook as a sharing option in Readmill for iPad, just like Twitter and Tumblr.
